Meet the Manse That Wants To Top Templestowe’s Record for $7m+
Templestowe, home to some of Melbourne’s largest and most Western Australian-inspired modern mansions, now has a new home on the market looking to break the suburb’s property record. It was back in 2006 that a “French Chateaux Revival” manse at 327-329 Church Road sold for $7.2m (it later sold at a loss in pre-GFC 2008 for $6.9m); now with a $7m+ price expectations, Chris Defteros and James Hatzolos of Barry White Manningham have the new, wanna-be record breaker listing.
The new listing is so discrete, it doesn’t even come with an address. And even though an undisclosed address is nothing more than a formalized invitation for the Radical Terrace to get its Google Maps on, we were out of luck with this one. Surprisingly (although it shouldn’t have been), Templestowe is home to a large number of L-shaped homes with pools, tennis courts, and gazebos on 1-acre plots. But even though it doesn’t come with an address, it is chock full of other features: UV shaded-playground for the youngins’, multiple (industrial-sized and -styled) kitchens with motivational words (that we hope are removable), a skylit garage to accommodate 6+ cars, and of course a laundry chute in the upstairs study (an imperative). Will it set a new record for Templestowe? We think not, but kudos for trying! UPDATE: Thanks to an in-the-know tipster, we have an address: 4 Killibury Court. A thoroughly average location that apparently last traded hands for $910k in 2004 before construction of the new house that now sits on the lot.
